October 2024-May 2025
Over the past year, our chapter saw a variety of activities.
We were fortunate to offer or members a two-day workshop with Satsuki Palter, Sub-Grand Master in the Ohara School of Ikebana. She led four sessions, each filling quickly.
On a somber note, Rebecca McLean, daughter of former chapter president Elsa Mclean, asked for our help in pricing and selling her mother’s large collection of ikebana vases. She offered our members first access before selling the remaining vases to Ikebana International in Sun City. Rebecca believes the vases embody the “spirit of ikebana,” and wanted them to go to students We are grateful that our members can carry on the spirit of this remarkable ikebana artist and share a piece of our chapter’s history.
We participated in the following events, sharing the beauty of ikebana.
- Yume Japanese Gardens Fall Ikebana Festival
- Tuscon Botanical Gardens Fall Introduction to Ikebana class
- Yume Japanese Garden Spring Festival
- Tucson Botanical Gardens Spring Introduction to Ikebana class
- Tucson Rose and Iris Show
- Japanese Spring Festival, Southern Arizona Japanese Cultural Coalition
