The Arizona Chapter, 18th in the United States and based in Tucson, was chartered in May 1977. Marcia Palmer, founder and advisor, was a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher who introduced ikebana to 10 students in Tubac, Arizona in 1975. Before she passed away in 1994, she attained the rank of Sub-Grandmaster. The chapter’s 20th anniversary was celebrated with a demonstration by Grand Master Mutsuo Tomita. When it turned 30, Grand Masters Seiko Kawamura and Shofu Shohara led a two-day workshop. The chapter is a registered non-profit organization.
